| Witness appeal to burglary in Lightwater Police in North West Surrey are appealing for witnesses following a burglary which occurred on Wednesday 16 January at around 9pm at a house in The Avenue, Lightwater. Three men broke into a house which was occupied by an elderly woman, and stated they were police officers. The woman started shouting but one of the men threatened to harm her if she continued to make a noise. The offenders then made an untidy search of the house, stealing approximately £260 in cash, before making off in a dark coloured BMW. All the men were white. One is described as around 5ft 6” tall, of large build with dark straight hair. He was wearing a dark suede hat, a grey top and grey trousers. The other two men were white wearing dark clothing. The woman was left shaken by this incident but fortunately she did not suffer any serious injuries. DS Paul Warriner from Woking CID said: “This is a despicable crime against an elderly member of our community and it sickens me that individuals can stoop so low. We are determined to catch these men and bring them to justice and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen them entering or exiting the property or has any information which will help us to locate these men to contact Surrey Police or call Crimestoppers anonymously.” Anyone with any information relating to this crime is asked to contact DS Paul Warriner or DC Karen Andrews on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference D/08/1038. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111.
