Burglary in Lightwater

Police in Surrey Heath are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Macdonald Road, Lightwater at around 10.40am on Monday 21 May.

An elderly female occupant was sitting in her living room when she heard a noise. Three white men entered her kitchen via an insecure back door and started going through her cupboards and bags. One of the men looked inside a handbag but discarded it. It appears that all the men stole was a bag of mixed colour knitting wool.

A neighbour saw the men get into a blue Mercedes hatchback car and head towards the A322 Lightwater bypass to the M3.

The only descriptions of the men are that they were all white, one was wearing a white jacket, one a checked shirt and the third was wearing gloves and black shoes.

Neighbourhood Inspector, Mark Adams said: “This was a frightening incident on a vulnerable member of our community and this sort of crime really is the lowest of the low. We would appeal to anyone who may have seen three men hanging around in the Mercedes to call us so we can catch these offenders and bring them to justice.”

Anyone who has any information relating to this crime should call Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222, quoting reference D/07/10979.
