HISTORY
The Surrey Border Lions Club was formed
in 1980 to meet the needs of the villages of Bagshot, Lightwater and
Windlesham. Originally a men's club, the Surrey Border Lions Club
welcomes women members
FUND RAISING
Funds raised from activities are held in a registered
charity trust fund and are spent only after members vote their approval,
with annual accounts subjected to audit and member's subscriptions
meeting routine administrative costs. Although a smaller than average
club with only 16 members, Surrey Border Lions raise about £9,000 pa and
the great majority of these funds are spent on local causes.

SOCIAL
Monthly meetings are held at 8 pm on the second Monday
of each month at Ming's Restaurant, London Rd, Windlesham, to transact
business in an informal manner with ample opportunities for humour.
Members, partners and 'friends' enjoy Christmas Dinner at a pub venue,
an informal handover lunch when club officers retire/take up office,
(on a canal narrow boat in 1999) a Charter anniversary luncheon and
occasional barn dances/ quiz nights and skittles evenings. The motto
of Lions Clubs International is "We Serve" to which can be added -
'while having fun'!
