24th September Three burglaries to report since my last bulletin. 1. Martindale Avenue, Heatherside
(Saturday evening) have entered insecure adjoining garage stealing bike
from within. 3. Guildford Road, West End (Monday day) offenders have tried to force the handle on the front UPVC door but failed so threw rock through rear patio door to gain entry stealing new flat screen TV. Burglar warning - burglars have been checking if houses are empty by placing old shoes on driveways. This method has been used by thieves to test if they are able to raid homes while the owners are away. The offenders are working on the assumption that if the shoe is moved from the drive then the occupants must be at home. This method has already been used in North and East Surrey. Please be alert and remove shoes or anything else which may have been left in such a way. Robin Wood
21st September Good morning to you all On the evening of Saturday 15th we had a call to a car park off Guildford Road, Lightwater by some flats near the Red Lion PH regarding some males using what was believed to be cocaine. Our very observant member of the public recorded the registration numbers of the vehicle's the males were using - a white van and a red car. When the call was received I was down at Frimley Park Hospital dealing with two victims from an accident but responded from there, however I missed them by a couple of minutes. I did some work around the call over the weekend and ascertained who was involved. Then on Monday afternoon three males reappeared at the same spot in the white van and 999 was called. Pc Foster from our dog section was in attendance quickly along with officers from Camberley and three males were arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to supply. The van driver was also arrested for taking the vehicle without consent, driving without licence and also without insurance. All three were taken to Woking, strip searched and drugs were found concealed on one of them, all their homes were searched and they were later interviewed by CID officers and are now on bail pending further enquiries. Good work by our observant member of the public for taking the time to call us, passing good factual information and helping us make some excellent arrests. On Saturday evening we had a call to South Road, Bisley concerning a male racing up the road late at night, sounding his horn constantly following a disturbance outside a house. South Road always has lots of cars parked there and with the speed the male was driving at and wheel spinning away it is a miracle he did not lose control and collide with another car or worse. On Sunday I took a statement from a local resident covering what they had seen and later visited the driver who also lives in Bisley. He fully admitted being the driver and I issued him with a formal warning under the Police Reform Act 2002. This means if he commits a similar offence in the next 12 months not only will he be reported for summons to appear at the Magistrates Court but we will also seize his vehicle there and then at the roadside. The driver can get his vehicle back after we seize it once he has paid all the recovery and storage costs. This legislation is very effective are dealing with this sort of driving but we have to ensure we use it appropriately and when there is good evidence to support it. Over the weekend in West End there was damage to the fences of Gordons School along Windlesham Road and it was reported as having been caused by local youths. This is nothing short of pure simple mindless vandalism and we were working over the weekend so have a good idea as to who was out and about during the weekend but need those extra bits of information to help us identify and arrest the offenders. Any help you can offer will be appreciated. On Monday 10th we had an incident at Sienna Flora on Bagshot Road, Chobham where three persons described as being of Eastern European Romany appearance arrived and managed through some trickery to steal £20. They later attended another two shops in Chobham but no offences were reported there however they were in Godalming later that time stealing again. We know they were driving an old Volkswagen which is bearing foreign registration plates of - 403ADM93. If you see this vehicle or have this group come into your shop / premises please call 999. There were two males and one female who has gold teeth so is quite distinctive. On Thursday 13th Pc Folan from Woking was on patrol in Chobham and observed two males acting suspiciously so stopped and spoke with them. He conducted a search of the two males and one was found to be in possession of a can of CS spray. This is similar to the spray we carry and are legally classed as a firearm. The male, who was aged 18, was arrested, interviewed and is now on bail pending full analysis of the spray. This was an excellent spot by Pc Folan and a good arrest. Best regards
17th September Good morning to you all.
We have been doing speed enforcement in the villages and have been focusing initially on Windsor Road Chobham, Guildford Road Lightwater and Queens Road & Clews Lane Bisley. We have prosecuted numerous motorists recently, many of whom have been local residents. We have chosen sites that either have had accidents recently or have elderly or young people nearby using the roads.
Last week I was doing some enforcement on Guildford Road Lightwater when I stopped a silver Rover for doing 46mph in the 30 limit. The driver pulled in beside me then sped off. We located the vehicle in Bagshot a few minutes later and he failed to stop so we pursued him to Bracknell where he crashed. We arrested the 50 year old driver for a number of offences. He was also wanted by Hampshire and Thames Valley Police in connection with offences in their areas. The car was displaying different number plates on the front and back and in the end we charged him with 9 offences and remanded him in custody.
On the whole the villages within Surrey Heath have been relatively burglary free. We had an incident yesterday lunch time in Bagshot where two male offenders burgled a house and we just missed catching them. They sped off in a car they had stolen from Yateley previously. The registration number is NH02 FOD and it is a blue Peugeot. If you see this car please call 999. It was last seen at high speed on Portsmouth Road towards the Ravenswood Roundabout in Frimley.
Whilst on the subject of vehicles if you see G136 VPL a dark coloured Ford Fiesta please call us via 999. This car has been used in numerous thefts across the Surrey and Thames Valley area. It was involved in a theft in Lightwater on 2nd September at the BP garage.
We are always keen to get new Neighbourhood Watch schemes up and running and recently a new one was set up in Bisley for the South Road and Mainstone Road areas. A very well attended meeting was held at the HMP Coldingley Social Club. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us or contact the local NHW co-ordinator Mr Mike Potter via e-mail - mikerpotter@aol.com
Every once in a while we receive a number of calls concerning inappropriate behaviour in car parks in the Chobham Common area. Recently we had a call regarding a man who deliberately locked himself into a set of stocks and was asking people to release him ! If you see any inappropriate / lewd behaviour please call us straight away so we can deal with these people and ensure the car parks and common areas remain suitable for family use.
Many thanks, Pc Ed Griffiths and all at Lightwater (Note: This is
a bit delayed, owing to holidays. Editor)
