June 27th A number of dwelling burglaries have taken place at the following locations across the borough since my last report. Elgin Way, Frimley, Caesars Close, Camberley, The Grange, Chobham, Pevensey Way, Frimley, Calshot Way, Frimley, Peninsular Close, Camberley and Broadlands, Frimley. Methods of entry include forcing rear doors or windows, smashing windows or in one case, climbing through an insecure window. One was also a distraction burglary with offenders duping the occupants by purporting to be from the Water Board. Property stolen consists of cash, jewellery, small electrical items, games consoles and in one case car keys (and subsequently the car from the drive). Following on from the above, the "Water UK" awareness campaign has released the following phone numbers for the public to use to verify the credentials of Water Board officials. Southern Water 0845 2780845
June 20th Two burglaries since my last report. One in Sparrow Row, Chobham and the other in Alphington Avenue, Frimley. Both properties were entered by having rear doors forced and property stolen includes power tools, small electrical items and a TV.
June 13th It has taken a couple of weeks to sort a couple of issues out but I am now in a position to resume full NHW bulletins albeit in a slightly different format. Bulletins will now be sent once a week, on a Friday. They will list where dwelling burglaries have taken place. They will be in no particular order and will not state when they occurred. I will then list methods of entry and property stolen. Again they will be in no particular order and will not directly correspond with any particular burglary. This way you will get all necessary information as to where, what and how but by the time you get it they may be over a week old. So, in the last couple of weeks there have been a number of burglaries at the following locations round the borough, Chapel Lane Bagshot, Rosewood Way and Commonfields West End, Walmer Close and Glamis Close Frimley, Wittmead Road Mytchett, Miles Place, Grasmere Road and Guildford Road Lightwater, Frimley Road and Chapel Road Camberley. Most of these burglaries have been accessed through insecure or open windows (probably due to the warm weather), a couple through the front door by UPVC door locks not being double locked and a couple by use of force. It is imperative that locks are used correctly and in warm weather we don't become complacent by leaving windows open and insecure when leaving home unattended. Property stolen includes cash, jewellery, lap tops, mobile phones and in 4 cases car keys have been stolen that were just left lying around. Subsequently the 4 cars the keys belonged to were also stolen. I've said it before but I'll say it again but it is also imperative that car keys are hidden away in a non obvious place
June 12th Information to NHW members will resume later this week. The issue with the press was not the information they were using but they way it was used. This issue is being dealt with. The bulletins will be sent out once a week, on a Friday, and will contain necessary information to keep you fully informed albeit in a different format.
June 6th Due to some of the information provided in this bulletin being used for press purposes, the information now given will be reduced. Although information has to be freely available, items for release to the press are dealt with by our Press and Media Department using set procedures. These bulletins were instigated by me a few years ago as a means of passing crime information to NHW members but unfortunately, due to the actions of others, from next Monday the bulletin will be issued just once a week and will contain less information. That said, there was just one dwelling burglary this week in Regent Way, Frimley. There were also 4 cases of theft from motor vehicles.
June 2nd Just one burglary over the weekend in Regent Way, Frimley (Friday day) offenders failed to smash the patio door but used a small set of metal steps (from the garden) to climb onto the flat roof. Then smashed a small pane of glass and reached inside to open the unlocked window, stealing a lap top and jewellery.
