Crime Reports - July 2008

July 24th

A few matters to make you aware of. Firstly we had another attempted burglary at Broadlands which is off of Sandringham Way. This occurred on Thursday 17th July at about 13.45 hours. On this occasion a white male climbed over the rear fence of the property and using a large stone threw it through the glass of a large door and caused it to shatter. However, the would be burglar, who I am certain is the same one who has done the other 13 burglaries in this particular area, fled after the dog next door started barking very loudly. Police, including myself, flooded the area and as a result of our enquiries there have been developments that I am unable to write about at this time.

Moving on between 15th June and 21st July persons unknown went to an address in Sturt Road, Frimley Green just after the Rose and Thistle Pub, entered the back garden where they went to a rear garden shed which had the key in the lock, opened the shed door and then stole a grey Klein mountain bike worth £1200. this bike is quite a rare one and had a serial number of WTU124318RS. If you do see an unusual mountain bike like this, please give me a call.

Finally Henley Drive, which is the road next to Frimley Green C of E School, Frimley Green, offenders returned to a previously burgled garage of a property in the road and using a screwdriver or similar forced a side door and stole an expensive Hayter Harrier lawnmower which was brand new and had just replaced the previous mower stolen a several months ago.

Kind regards

July 11th

Since my last bulletin there have been 3 dwelling burglaries and 2 burglaries against elderly people.

The dwelling burglaries occurred in Upper Chobham Road, Frimley, Guildford Road, Lightwater and Frimley Green Road, Frimley Green.

Entry was gained by forcing a rear window or in one case entry point was unknown so believed to have been entered by a non deadlocked front UPVC door.

Property stolen includes wallets, cash, a TV and 2 sets of car keys and the cars they belonged to.

The 2 other burglaries occurred in Heathermead Court, Frimley a warden controlled block of elderly persons flats. Two flats which were unoccupied at the time were entered and cash stolen.

This is the last report for a few weeks whilst I am on holiday. Bulletins will resume in August.

July 4th

Two burglaries have occurred since my last bulletin in Cedar Close, Bagshot and James Road, Camberley.

One was entered by forcing a rear window and the other was entered through an unlocked rear door!

Property stolen includes a handbag and contents, small electrical items and once again car keys (and car).

Now we're into July, schools will shortly be breaking up and its time to think about summer holidays. The following tips may be helpful.

1. Make your home look occupied, don't completely close the curtains, in daytime it shows the house is unoccupied.

2. Consider time switches for lights etc.

3. Cancel milk and newspapers.

4. Cut the lawn and tidy the garden before you go.

5. Do not put your home address on luggage labels when travelling to your destination.

6. Enlist a trusted neighbour to regularly check your property and push post and free newspapers completely through the letterbox.

7. When you go, make sure you've locked all outside doors and windows and if you have a burglar alarm, make sure it is set.
