Crime Reports - February 2008

28th February 2008

Two burglaries to report from this week.

1. Woodlands Road, Camberley (Monday daytime) offenders prised open rear kitchen window to gain entry, stealing a lap top computer.

2. Cambrian Close, Camberley (Monday AM) this is actually only an attempt burglary whereby offender has put his hand through an open fanlight and reached through to undo the main window latch. However as this was locked no entry was gained and no forced entry was attempted.

25th February

No burglaries to report from over the weekend.

However there were a number of thefts from motor vehicles with property being stolen including Sat Nav consoles, lap tops and camera etc.

Hi All

You may have noticed the comment on the latest crime report about 192.com. I have searched this site and am worried about the data that is apparently available. I always thought that ones Mothers Maiden Name and your date of birth were essential parts of personal identification yet I see that for a fee they would seem to be on offer. I appreciate that every time you are asked to provide this information it can find its way into the Public Domain so no wonder it is said that we are the most monitored people on Earth!

22nd February

One burglary to report this week, during the afternoon of Monday. Offenders entered premises in St Catherines Road, Frimley Green by unknown means, stealing a TV set.

18th February

No burglaries to report from over the weekend however there were a few thefts from motor vehicles. People are still leaving Sat Nat consoles and lap tops in parked, unattended vehicles.

Home Office advice - don't leave any property in unattended vehicles.

16th February

Good day

In Ed’s departure I will temporarily keep the Village News to you all coming.

On 30th January the BP garage West End was broken into by two males who stole a quantity of cigarettes. There are no descriptions of the offenders, though a silver BMW was caught on CCTV seen on the forecourt. On 9th February a similar burglary occurred at Threshers in Gosden Road, again two males entered the premise and stole a quantity of cigarettes. On this occasion a witness described a Silver ‘J’ Reg Lexus as the offending vehicle. The investigation into this matter is continuing.

On 7th February a taxi driver in Camberley had money stolen by a male who was one of three travelling in his vehicle. The male made off from the taxi and upon walking away was followed until police located him and he was arrested. Whilst being carried to custody and travelling along Red Road, the male assaulted officers by headbutting and spitting at them. CS was deployed. The male admitted to all he had done and due to having no criminal history received a caution and repaid the taxi driver for the money stolen and lost earnings.

There have been a couple of recent reports of criminal damage to a business premise to the rear of Budgens in Lightwater Village. The location is once again attracting groups of youths. Some of the youths simply wish to use their skate boards however we are concentrating patrols at the location to speak with the youths and if required will conduct follow up visits with parents if the youths are identified as being involved in criminal activity or antisocial behaviour. Owing to spates of criminal damage in the arterial roads leading from the centre, this is considered as a priority. Hopefully we can deter the need to implement another Section 30.

On the 25th January a prisoner about to be released from Coldingly had his quickest breathe of fresh air. Whilst awaiting a departure vehicle he stole items from a box belonging to another inmate. He was detained by staff, arrested by police, charged, remanded and sentenced back straight back to prison.

An investigation is currently underway following a Robbery on the A30 Bagshot. The female driver of a GTI golf, had her vehicle stolen when she was hit by a stolen Galant. When she got out of her vehicle to speak with the drivers they ran to her car and made off. The female attempted to stop them and as a result was dragged a short distance along the road and subsequently sustained injuries. The Galant had previously rammed police vehicles in Hantspol and TVP but has since been recovered.

The issue of overweight lorries using Chobham High Street remains a priority.
On 8th February PC Hempson-Reading stopped a number of vehicles and issued 4 fixed penalty notices and gave several warnings to drivers. Larger signage is still be sought with the intention that all concerning routes are covered.

Regards
PC 2191 Worger and everyone at Lightwater

15th February

Three burglaries to report this week.

1. Trenton Close, Frimley (Monday daytime) offender reached through an open ground floor hopper window and used a key left on the windowsill to unlock the main casement window to gain access and stole a lap top.

2. Burrell Road, Frimley (Tuesday PM) elderly occupant has answered the door to a stranger who stated they needed to come in. Was let in by the occupant without checking any ID and they then stole cash from a lounge bureau.

3. Branksome Park Road, Camberley (Wednesday daytime) offender has smashed rear ground floor window and broke the lock to gain entry, stealing a lap top and TV.

Something else that was brought to my attention may be of interest. 192.com is an internet search engine which allows you to search for names and addresses etc. If you are registered on the electoral role you may be on this site. 192.com are now also categorising by age so for example you can search for someone who is say 60-64 years old. This has obvious implications in identifying areas of elderly residents who may be targeted. This issue is being addressed with 192.com but this would take some time and we may not be able to do anything about it.

However by going into the "help and support" area of the website there is a facility by which you can remove your details.

May I suggest that you pass details of this site onto friends and family, check to see whether you are actually on the site and if you are, remove your details.

192.com - check it now!!

11th February

One burglary in this report, at Molyneux Road, Windlesham (Sunday afternoon) offender forced a ground floor rear wood framed window to gain entry but disturbed by a barking dog and made off without stealing anything.

8th February

Three burglaries to report this week.

1. Tekels Way, Camberley (Tuesday PM) offender entered premises via insecure conservatory door and then forced open patio door to main house. Stole cash and jewellery.

2. Wilmot Way, Camberley (Tuesday PM) offender forced rear patio door to gain access. Two watches were stolen.

Unusually during these 2 burglaries the searches were quite untidy and destructive.

3. Hillcrest Road, Camberley (Tuesday evening) offender has forced open rear French doors to gain entry and have taken time to dismantle a grandfather clock removing its inner workings. Also stolen were cash and a TV set.

4th February

No burglaries to report from over the weekend, however one unoccupied house in Park Avenue, Camberley had a Yorkstone patio removed sometime between 11am and 4pm last Friday. It would have required a vehicle and manpower to remove it flagstone by flagstone !!
