August 29th Two burglaries this week in St Michaels Road, Camberley and Heatherley Road, Camberley. One was entered by forcing a Yale lock and the other by kicking in the wooden bottom panel of a rear door. Property stolen includes a lap top computer, camera and video camera. Also this week saw a number of vehicles having both front and rear number plates stolen. The reasons for this are not clear, whether for use in crime, avoiding the London congestion charge or a new craze (like collecting car badges). Please keep an eye on your number plates. To help prevent this type of theft they can be replaced by new plates that shatter if anyone tries to force them off. These can prove relatively expensive. A cheaper option is to replace existing fastenings with "clutch head" or non return screws. These are cheap and freely available at most DIY stores or car accessory shops.
August 22nd Since my last bulletin in the middle of July there have been 22 dwelling burglaries. These have been spread across the borough with the usual methods of entry and property stolen. Most recently this week, 2 burglaries occurred in Walkers Ridge, Camberley and Waterloo Close, Camberley. In both these burglaries, entry was gained through insecurities. One an unlocked patio door and the other a ground floor window being left open. Property stolen includes handbags, games console, jewellery and car keys and 2 cars stolen using the keys.
