30th April Just one burglary to report in Broadway Road, Lightwater (daytime Friday) offenders entered by reaching in through an open hopper window to open an insecure larger window stealing electrical games consoles. A prime example of being complacent
during this spell of warm weather. You must always make sure that doors
and windows are closed and locked.
23rd April Last week there were only 2 dwelling burglaries in Surrey Heath. 1. Upper Gordon Road, Camberley, Thursday daytime. Offenders gained entry by forcing ground floor front door to flat. Fortunately nothing appears to have been stolen. 2. Mytchett Road, Mytchett, Thursday morning. Offender entered via open patio door whilst occupant worked in the office upstairs. Jewellery and cash stolen. A timely reminder to everyone to make sure that in this nice weather that complacency regarding home security doesn't set in. Please make sure that you don't forget doors and windows have been opened and precautions are taken and when you go out, remember to shut and lock them.
16th April Since my last bulletin on 2nd April there have been 5 dwelling burglaries. 1. London Road, Camberley (3/4/07) offender has forced open ground floor window to gain entry stealing Ipod and speakers. 2. Hamesmoor Road, Mytchett
(6/4/07) forced entry at rear with offender stealing a briefcase.
2nd April Since the last report there have been 8 dwelling burglaries. 1. Portesbery Road, Camberley x 2 only one of which was successful. Daytime Monday, offenders have approached via railway line and smashed rear window to gain access stealing TV, lap top, camera and jewellery. 2. The Avenue, Camberley, daytime Tuesday, offender using spade taken from shed has forced open rear dining room window to gain entry, stealing an Ipod and mobile phones. 3. Heatherdale Road, Camberley, daytime Wednesday. Offender has taken spade and fork from garden shed and used them to force entry through rear French doors. Alarm has activated and offender made off without stealing anything. 4. Barnmead, Chobham, sometime between Saturday and Wednesday offender has taken spade from shed to force open rear UPVC window. Have stolen TV set but nothing else. 5. Ashwell Avenue, Camberley, overnight Thursday/Friday offender has entered via insecure front door and stolen TV and handbag. 6. Rowan Close, Camberley, Friday. Opportunist offender picked up wallet dropped by loser on his driveway and used key attached to enter premises. Stole mobile phone. 7. Mytchett Road, Mytchett, Friday daytime. Offender smashed pane of glass in rear door and unlocked same with key left in lock. Fortunately nothing stolen. As can be seen a number of these burglaries have been committed using tools taken from garden sheds at the same premises, all of which were insecure. An opportune time perhaps to advise you that shed security is as important as home security. Although by design sheds are inherently weaker, they can be given a modicum of security just by fitting a strong door lock, padlock or securing tools in the shed. It may just be enough to stop the offender taking the tools by which to commit the burglary. Next report will be Monday 16th April 2007 Robin Wood |
