Workers Use Pedal Power

Staff at Surrey Heath Borough Council have been using pedal power to get to work as part of national Bike Week (17-25 June). Bike2Work is part of Bike Week which is run annually and aims to encourage more staff to cycle to work.

Ten Council employees ditched their cars and opted for a more environmentally friendly and healthier way to get to and from work.

Some cycled to the Council's headquarters at Surrey Heath House in Knoll Road, Camberley, from as far away as Church Crookham, Wokingham and Basingstoke and have found the experience so beneficial they have decided to cycle to work more regularly.

Portfolio Holder for Leisure and the Environment Cllr Patricia Pearce said: "I hope the staff felt the benefits of cycling to work this week and keep it up. Perhaps other colleagues and workers in the Borough will feel encouraged by their efforts and join them by getting on their bikes."
