Surrey Heath playgrounds to get a make-over

Great news for families in Mytchett and Chobham Road, Frimley: the local playgrounds are about to get a £75,000 make-over, with new equipment and surfacing - just in time for the summer holidays.

The refurbishment at Mytchett Recreation Ground is set to enhance its current facilities and make it even more fun for the children who use the play area.

The play area was originally raised up because of flooding problems but thanks to improved drainage this is no longer an issue. As a result, it can be returned to ground level and given a new safety surface that will provide a more versatile space for youngsters to enjoy. The £40,000 scheme has been given a financial boost of £26,000 from Grange Nurseries Development, reducing the cost to Surrey Heath taxpayers.

Surrey Heath Borough Council has also approved £35,000 to make Chobham Road Recreation Ground play area brighter and more attractive.

"Play is incredibly important for young children's development," said Cllr Patricia Pearce, Economy and the Environment Portfolio Holder. "This project will make a big difference to the youngsters who use the two recreation areas."
