Mayor's Charity Appeal 2005 – 2006

Councillor Stewart Stevenson, Mayor of the Borough for 2005 - 2006, successfully raised over £30,000 for local charities during his term of office.

Cllr Stevenson called his Charity Appeal "Making a Difference in Surrey Heath", with the aim of helping some of the smaller local charities within the Borough. All of the money raised has now been distributed with some 28 charities benefiting. Donations ranged from £3,000 to £200 reflecting the differing needs of the charities involved, which included Aspiration, Friends of Valley End School, Blackwater Valley Branch Alzheimer's Society, Frimley and Camberley Age Concern, Disability Initiative, Cruse Bereavement Care and Home-Start for Surrey Heath.

Cllr Stevenson said: "I am extremely grateful to all those who so generously supported my Charity Appeal. The response from the people of the Borough, both residents and the business community, was overwhelming. All the money raised has gone to benefit local charities to assist in the work they do for so many in the Borough."

Cllr Stevenson added: "My heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed throughout my year and helped to raise such a magnificent sum."
