Funds Allocated
to Clear Field 0081
At the adjourned Full Council meeting on Tuesday 28th February, Councillors
at Surrey Heath voted to provide funding to assist the restoration of
Field 0081, Pennypot Lane, Chobham.
Councillors have agreed a significant fixed cash sum towards the cost
of remediation works at the site. This matches the sum provided by the
Environment Agency and means that clearance of the site can begin soon.
Surrey Heath Officers have now been asked by Councillors to explore the possibility of obtaining Government grant funding, as well as looking into any other avenues which may help secure the long-term future of the site.
Cllr. Moira Gibson, The Leader of the Surrey Heath Borough Council said, “The Council is keen to ensure Council funds are used to secure the site against further traveller incursion, but we do not own the land. We therefore need to be careful to use this money towards sustainable improvements to the area while we consider any long term solution.”
