Five new names unveiled
at The Atrium
Crest Nicholson
Regeneration and Standard Life Investments, working with Surrey
Heath Borough Council, have let five more units in The Atrium, Camberley
- four of them to big name restaurant & café outlets
that are new to the town.
Work on the £130
million shopping, leisure and residential development is on schedule,
ahead of the new shops opening in time for Christmas this year.
These new deals bring the scheme to almost two thirds let, under
offer or with serious discussions ongoing.
New additions to The
Atrium will include:
- Sportsworld, the UK's largest sports store group will occupy a
first and second floor unit looking onto the planned pedestrian
area of Park Street, with a ground floor entrance and escalator
and lift access to the upper floors.
- The celebrated Seattle
coffee house, Starbucks, is to take a ground and first floor unit
and will be situated beside Zizzi's and the entrance to The Atrium
on St Mary's Road and will have an external seating area. |

- The UK's largest and most
rapidly expanding Chinese restaurant, The Real China, is a modern oriental
experience that is opening its 12th restaurant in two years at The Atrium,
following on from its recent successful openings in Cheltenham and the
Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole. As well as occupying 5,500 sq ft of indoor
space, diners will also be able to take advantage of outside seating looking
into the atrium area on the first floor opposite Vue cinema.
- Café Rouge, the popular
modern French bistro, will occupy an inside unit beside the entrance to
The Atrium on St Mary's Road and also boasts outside seating for its customers.
- Portuguese-style operator
famous for its peri-peri chicken, Nando's, has taken a unit beside Café
Rouge, and across from Chiquito and Frankie & Benny's, situated near
the entrance onto St Mary's Road.
The Atrium already includes
a 9 screen Vue-cinema, a 22-lane Bowlplex, as well as top name retailers
Next and Virgin, which are taking substantially larger units at The Atrium,
and family restaurants Frankie & Benny's and Chiquito.
New homes are a vital part
of the scheme which will introduce a completely new living experience
to Camberley. The Atrium will feature 217 stylish one and two bedroom
apartments, 55 of which are shared ownership housing, each with its own
car parking space. Construction is well underway at Centro, which faces
Southern Road, and construction will begin at Aspect and The Courtyard
shortly. The apartments are ideally located for city commuters, who are
attracted by the prime location and exceptional retail and leisure facilities
on their doorstep. One third of the residential plots have already been
sold.
Martin Mortimer, Development
Director of Crest Nicholson Regeneration said:
"We are delighted to announce these new names for The Atrium. There
is a great deal of interest from shops, restaurants and cafés wanting
to come to Camberley and these are top-notch names to have signed up.
They will be an excellent addition to what the town already has to offer.
We are still in the process of negotiating further deals that will be
just as exciting and hope to be in a position to announce more names shortly.
In the meantime works on site are progressing well and on schedule and
we would like to thank people for their patience and support of the Park
Street shops while this is ongoing."
Mike Hannigan, Investment Director
at Standard Life Investments added:
"With the main anchor units already in place, these latest deals
strengthen our commitment to creating a good mix of restaurants, cafés
and shops that will complement the town. With the improvements to Park
Street this will create a very attractive shopping and leisure environment
and we expect it to transform the shopping experience in Camberley and
bring more people into the town."
Chas Bradfield, Director of
Customer Services at Surrey Heath Borough Council said:
"The Council has worked hard to make the Atrium development a reality
and it is excellent to see such positive interest in our town from quality
businesses - clearly evidence that there is a very exciting and vibrant
future for Camberley. We warmly welcome these businesses to the town,
and look forward to the newly formed Town Centre Partnership adding further
to the future wellbeing and improvement of the town centre for all its
residents, businesses and visitors."
