Council Website
Receives National Recognition The Council is one of just 12 Local Government sites noted for good practice and conforming with the Government standard for the use of public access keys to make the site more useable for people with disabilities. It is also one of 16 Local Government sites noted for achieving the target for Flesch Reading ease for the readability and clarity of web pages. Cllr Richard Brooks, Corporate Portfolio Holder said, “Websites are critical to the improvement of services and communications with citizens, customers and local communities. Around 60% of the Surrey Heath population now use the Internet at home or at work, and staff use it to assist customers. The Council’s investment in technology reflects the radical changes in society and lifestyle that the Internet has made possible and I am delighted that this is being acknowledged, as this only reinforces what people tell me. I would like to thank the staff for their achievement.” For further information on the Surrey Heath website please visit www.surreyheath.gov.uk
