Casino Consultation
Extended The Executive have agreed to defer the decision to the Full Council meeting on Wednesday 14th December 2005. As a result the consultation will now be extended until Wednesday 7th December 2005. The Gambling Act 2005, which was passed earlier this year, introduces how gambling is licensed in Great Britain, bringing with it new responsibilities for Licensing Authorities. Under existing legislation, which will be replaced, casinos for members only are currently located in 53 ‘permitted areas’ - Surrey Heath is not one of these permitted areas. Alan Charman, Licensing Manager, said “Many of the views expressed in the consultation have been closely linked to Lakeside Complex, Frimley Green. I would emphasise that if the Council decides to bid for the right to issue a licence, and is successful, the casino could be located anywhere in the Borough. The Council would therefore particularly like to hear the views of residents living in all parts of Surrey Heath.” To voice an opinion please complete the consultation online by visiting www.surreyheath.gov.uk – Click the appropriate link on the home page. Alternatively send comments along with your name and address to: Communications, Surrey Heath Borough Council, Surrey Heath House, Knoll Road, Camberley, Surrey GU15 3HD.
